Although the company said the kit was necessary to keep up with the two Xerox X980s installed at the beginning of the year, marketing manager Graham Smith told PrintWeek that the amount of work going through the factory would have led to an investment anyway.
The North London-based company has installed a Prism 115 guillotine from Consensus Guillotine, a DC615 cutter creaser and System5000 from Duplo, along with a PSS Paragon PS800 pressure-sealing machine.
MBA began installing the new machines in April and all of them are now up and running.
Smith said: "Whenever you compare new equipment with your existing kit the comparison always falls well in favour of the latest model. When you buy in new machines you are always going to see an increase in capacity and efficiency."
He added that the company was already in discussions regarding further investments in its finishing department, with decisions expected to be made in the coming months.
The new Prism is the company's second, it first installed a 115 in March 2007. Dave Marrett, who oversees the finishing department, said: "After running our first Prism six days a week on double day shifts with no problems, we realised the Prism was as fast as the highest specification equivalent.
"We had no hesitation in purchasing a second Prism, and the service Consensus has given us is second-to-none."
