ADM takes staff from failed local printer to run new finishing arm

Mailing specialist Assembly Direct Mail (ADM) has launched a finishing division, as well as adding an ISO 9001 accreditation.

The Essex-based company has brought on board Joe Thompson, David Appleton and Joe Richardson from failed local printer Bridge Communications to run the new finishing arm.

It has also spent around £30,000 on secondhand equipment, including an MBO T79 folder, a Hunkeler mailing unit, a Stahl T66 folder and a Schneider 115 B1 guillotine, which was all installed two weeks ago.

Joint managing director Jameson Smith said: "When Bridge [Communications] failed, we thought we could take more finishing in-house.

"We wanted to do specialist finishing here and offer existing clients more. We will also be looking to add new clients."

ADM's investment follows less than a month after it installed new digital kit from Océ.

The company is aiming to add ISO 14001 to its ISO 9001 accreditation and Smith said the company wants to achieve this by 17 September.

He added: "We are pleased to get the ISO 9001 accreditation as it shows we have had well-established systems in place that meet, and in some cases, better all the requirements."
