Eight staff transferred under TUPE to Mailmate, boosting its headcount to 30. The deal will also add around £800,000 in sales, boosting the firm’s turnover to £2.5m.
As well as the staff, a pair of Pitney Bowes enclosing lines along with a number of mono and colour Konica digital presses transferred to Mailmate.
“We’ve basically become Jersey Post’s printing and enclosing facility,” said managing director Neil Faudemer.
“It was a natural progression, while we had almost been competitors in the past we had increasingly been working together and have both developed highly reputable fulfillment services to utilities and financial services clients.”
Following the acquisition, which was signed last November, Mailmate has now completed the relocation of the former Jersey Post mailing and fulfillment operation to a refurbished site in the centre of the island, which complements Mailmate’s main commercial print production facility in St Aubin.
Jersey Post has retained its data centre following the deal, although it will continue to work closely with Mailmate.
According to Faudemer, as part of the purchase Mailmate will also continue to service Jersey Post’s existing client base of major financial institutions, which benefit from the “serious cost advantages” of mailing First Class from the island to the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.
As well as offering full mailing services from its new dedicated site, Mailmate, which was started by Faudemer 30 years ago, also offers general litho and digital commercial print, wide-format and publishing services.
