Dominic Riley has extensive experience in organisations including FTSE 100-listed Relx, the BBC, and the Morgan Motor Company.
St Neots-based MacroArt said the new addition to its board would provide key corporate skills in areas such as innovation, market exploitation, and sustainable growth.
As head of marketing at BBC Online, Riley was part of the team that launched the bbc.co.uk website. More recently, as chairman of the Morgan Motor Company, he oversaw record sales and profits, and the sale of the business to Investindustrial in 2019.
“MacroArt is a business with great potential and a huge commitment to excellence. I am excited by the growth opportunities,” said Riley.
“The factory is well invested, the team is on board, and I feel sure that we can deliver results, both in terms of market share and profitability. We see significant possibilities for further development at this strongly established firm.”
MacroArt managing director Michael Green added: “After recent significant investment in both equipment and industry-first software, we believe there is so much more that we can offer our clients, both large and small, and the appointment of Dominic will surely be the catalyst for this next step up in our offering.
“Dominic’s impressive experience in successfully driving businesses forward, in both the exploration of new markets and services, and profitability, is perfectly in tune with the ambitions of our firm.”
Separately, a recent MacroArt job has seen the company create a wide array of graphics at Blenheim Palace, to enhance the visitor experience while restoration takes place in one of the Palace State Rooms.
Working alongside the Blenheim marketing team and design agency Creative Gravy, MacroArt produced signage, hoardings, wallcoverings, and fabrics that reflected the heritage of the UNESCO World Heritage Site buildings.
Temporary access corridors were fitted out with exact replicas of the existing wallcoverings that featured in the Green Writing Room to ensure continued access around the building and preserve the visitor experience.
Additionally, concrete traffic bollards were covered with a heat conformable printed vinyl to replicate the sandstone that the palace is built from.
Bespoke pillar signage was also created to prevent any damage to the ageing stonework and allow for the free draining of rainwater.
Earlier this year MacroArt commissioned a formal ‘top to bottom’ review of its green credentials from Green Circle Solutions as part of a new initiative to reduce its environmental impact.
The company also recently became the first company in Europe to implement Lift ERP, a new platform from Lift Software.
Last year it secured £3.3m in additional working capital after proving its continued growth following an MBO in 2014.
The company is aiming for growth during 2021 after securing nearly £1m of new business in 2020, and it took on three new apprentices in February.
