Employees encouraged to contact ACAS

Reflections hiatus continues

Luke Hastings has not responded to multiple requests to clarify the situation

Administrators have still not been appointed at Reflections Print Finishers, more than a month after a filing was made to that effect.

Reflections was abruptly shuttered on 26 February. Directors Luke and Paul Hastings then filed a Notice of Intention to Appoint Administrators (NOI) on 10 March.

Since then, a swathe of equipment from the Reflections site has been sold, some of which had been subject to asset finance.

A sale handled by Eddisons that concluded on 10 April was described as being “by order of the directors pending the appointment of a liquidator”.

Nothing had been filed at the High Court regarding an official move into administration or liquidation as of this morning (16 April).

Printweek has made multiple attempts to contact Luke Hastings for comment regarding the situation at the company, but with no response.

A source close to the company said: “I have still heard no word of admins, and the employees are still waiting for numbers and codes to receive their redundancy pay.”

Unaudited accounts for Reflections Print Finishers to 31 October 2023 showed an average of 69 employees.

Sister firm Wren Packaging also laid off half of its workforce due to the knock-on impact of the collapse of Reflections. It’s not clear if former employees there have been able to progress their claims.

Wren Packaging’s unaudited accounts for the same period showed 22 employees.

Luke Hastings is also connected to a new company, Renaissance Packaging Limited, and was appointed as a director there on 21 March. Its registered office is at the Wren Packaging address near Southend Airport.

The Insolvency Service told Printweek that it is unable to comment on individual cases or claims.

However, in disputes with employers, employees are encouraged to firstly seek remedy through ACAS and subsequently with the Employment Tribunals.

The Insolvency Service said: “The application is free and won’t incur any further financial hardship for applicants”.
