LIS claims upgraded barcode reader can boost savings

Lake Image Systems (LIS) has unveiled a number of improvements to its IntegraVision Customer Bar Code product in order to help mailing houses improve quality and profit margins.

According to the manufacturer, the changes will ensure that users of the product comply with the Royal Mail's Cleanmail and Cleanmail Plus services' dimensional tolerances and readability requirements for barcode systems.

IntegraVision also now includes archiving capability for all pieces, including envelopes and booklets, at image archiving speeds in excess of 40,000 pieces per hour.

The system is designed to detect missing or duplicated pieces and halt production in order for the omission or duplication to be rectified.

LIS said the product can be installed on inserting machines, stitchers, and poly wrappers.

Managing director Martin Keats said: "Any deterioration in barcode readability or print quality can mean mailing houses forfeiting huge savings, so ensuring compliance and integrity can make a huge impact on profit margins and timelines.

"This is the need that our system meets – it also now delivers a detailed audit trail with a camera image of every piece and/or defect with the matching quality report."
