Kodak Polychrome Graphics is changing its strategy on pre-press hardware in the UK, signalling an end to its sale of Heidelberg and CreoScitex products.
The firm announced the changes to the 16 staff in its electronic imaging division yesterday (3 May). All will be offered alternative posts.
In a statement issued by UK managing director Jack Wiethoff, KPG said it was refocusing its energies in order to become "an open partner to a wider range of equipment manufacturers and dealers".
"Any worthwhile company is always reviewing its strategy and should be ready to react to changing market conditions. Kodak Polychrome Graphics will concentrate on its core strength of graphic arts film, plates, proofing products and thermal newspaper systems. The firm will be able to offer a lot more co-operation and support to a wider range of partners than hitherto," the statement said.
CreoScitex vice president of marketing Boudewijn Neijens said: "We are talking to KPG in the States about future co-operations."
