Kodak Polychrome Graphics plans to increase its presence in the newspaper and proofing markets as part of its refocus.
As part of the strategy it has formed a partnership with CreoScitex to distribute the Trendsetter 2637 dedicated newspaper CTP system, which images up to 100 broadsheet plates per hour.
This is despite KPGs announcement this month that it would change its pre-press hardware strategy and end the sale of Heidelberg and CreoScitex products (PrintWeek, 4 May).
"By the end of the year we will have a much broader range of both proofing devices and newspaper systems," said UK managing director Jack Wiethoff.
"The decision we made was to focus more on materials that we produce."
It will give the firm a platesetter for smaller printers that dont need the productivity of its Newsetter to use with ThermalNews plates. KPG is the only consumables firm to produce thermal materials for the newspaper market, which is dominated by visible light systems.
