The machine, which KIP UK managing director Chris Hill claimed "heralds the start of the wide-format CAD output revolution", can produce up to four A0 prints a minute – the equivalent of up to 200sqm an hour.
It is targeted at printers producing architectural plans and Geographic Information System (GIS) data, as well as business graphics and display work.
Dick Casey, marketing manager at KIP UK, said the Color 80 would help printers migrate mono work such as CAD applications, into full-colour thanks to its high production speeds.
He said: "The market for colour CAD work is growing all the time. The Color 80 can handle both mono and colour requirements with the speeds to match."
KIP said the Color 80 can produce documents at the same rate regardless of coverage and can print onto a range of substrates from standard bond and photo gloss paper to self-adhesive films.
Hill added: "While the cost of mono output on other colour systems on the market tends to be high, with the Color 80, any mono work can also be delivered at a competitive price."
The machine can output at resolutions of 600x600dpi in both mono and colour production handling substrates up to 36in by 48in in size.
