The publishing house produces more than 200 magazine titles worldwide, controlling some 200,000 tonnes of paper per year globally.
JSA Consultants launched Paperman, a web-enabled paper management tool for periodical publishers, earlier this year (PrintWeek, 15 January).
JSA Managing director John Stevens said Paperman will enable Emap to forecast paper usage and cost for its magazine titles over the current financial year.
"The key factor for Emap is that it will provide us with a more global view of our paper requirements," said Emap group production director Andy Franks.
Franks said the aim is for the programme to be rolled out by the year end to Emap's offices in the US, Australia and France. Paperman went live at Emap in April.
Printers producing Emap titles will also be brought online to input deliveries and paper usage at a later stage.
Franks said the aim was for Emap to bring online as many procurement processes as possible.
The plan is that Paperman will be integrated with Emap's IT systems.
JSA Consultants' Stevens said a national merchant group is also set to go live with Paperman in October.
