The contract to produce Tred, the 1m-run magazine for sports fashion retailer JD Sports, demanded a one-month turnaround from concept to print.
This wasnt done for monetary reasons, said production director Darrel Crowley. We had earmarked a UK printer for the job, but because of the schedule constraints it couldnt find the capacity. The only one available to us was in Italy.
JBCP had been looking for a 64pp press to print the 68pp magazine, and its Italian supplier had spare capacity on its 64pp MAN Roland Lithoman IV.
Pre-press for the magazine, which could go quarterly after Christmas, was handled by Blaze.
JBCP has also won contracts to publish a 300,000-run magazine for Selfridges, printed by Pindar, and a 60,000-run publication for RBoS, printed by St Ives Andover.
