Infigo seeks public votes to win Branson funding for expansion

Crawley-based web-to-print and cross-media marketing software developer Infigo Software intends to expand in the UK and North America if it wins business funding from Sir Richard Branson.

The Virgin owner is looking to invest £1m in businesses in his 'Pitch to Rich' competition. There are three categories: ‘Start-Up’, ‘New Things’ and ‘Grow’. Infigo is currently placed in the top 50 of 357 businesses in the 'Grow' category, based on votes received so far. Voting closes on 5 May.

The top prize in the ‘Grow’ category is a £250,000 marketing campaign, with two runners-up both receiving a £100,000 campaign.

“There’s an opportunity to be put onto the [Virgin] mentoring programme as well and you get access to some management of theirs and some networking. The cash is important but it’s also about all of the other factors around it,” said Infigo Software managing director Douglas Gibson.

Infigo, which is behind the Catfish and MegaEdit web-to-print platforms, has recently attended two exhibitions in North America: the Dscoop conference in Washington, DC and the Graphics Canada exhibition in Toronto.

He said: “The reaction we’ve had at these shows has been awesome and that’s what’s spurring the desire; there is a real interest.”

Infigo recently secured a deal with Signature Print-IT, a printer based in Regina, Canada. The company also has customers in Australia and is currently in talks with other businesses based in North America. In total, Infigo has around 150 clients using its Catfish platform.

“Dozens of companies in the UK have seen our web-to-print software make a real difference to their business, either enhancing their growing digital operations or enabling them to start a digital arm,” said Gibson.

“We believe we are bringing companies something different which can help our clients make money.”

Infigo Software has 16 staff and its typical customers include print businesses with a turnover between £10m and £15m. Infigo’s turnover has doubled to around £1m in the past year and the firm is aiming to increase that to £1.5m this year.

Earlier this year the business launched Catfish Hybrid Mail, a secure service that enables businesses to easily standardise documents across print and email.
