Inbay looks at SVG development

Two print-savvy IT and internet experts have set up a company that aims to develop the use of the Scaleable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format for all media, including print.

Managing director Kristian Wright and Mark Duke were most recently at TripleArc and before that were developers at ControlP.

Their new venture, Inbay, is researching how to apply SVG as a cross-media file format once the format adds support for print output, which will come at the beginning of next year.

We see SVG as the Holy Grail its a source file for cross-media distribution, said Wright. We see it is a replacement for PDF, but that wont happen overnight.

Inbay came across SVG and its potential when looking at ways to further develop the concept of the ControlP Edit2Print application.

It has received funding for research and development from ADS, the firm that was involved in the original development of Edit2Print for ControlP.

The firm also provides IT and technical support for printers and designers through sister company Inbay Solutions.

It has picked up the IT support contract for the Color Co and some Kall Kwik franchises.

Wright was technical support manager at Kall Kwik and Duke was IT manager at the Color Co before they got involved with ControlP.
