The DuPont Cromanet Epson package couples Cromanet CS colour management software, used in its AQ, B and Blue series, with the Epson Stylus Pro 7900 and 9900 to offer "an excellent price/performance ratio".
Wim Plaggenburg, international dealer manager for GPS, said that existing users of DuPont's high-end proofing systems, particularly in the packaging sector, were looking for an up-to-date economic system "with the same ensured quality as their Cromalin AQ, B and Blue series".
He added: "The existing Cromanet software used with high-end systems is almost the same Cromanet software used with the Epson. This offers DuPont users a low threshold to add or make the change to a low-cost system."
The 1 September launch marks the next phase in GPS's resurrection of the Cromalin proofing brand, which it has made its main focus since acquiring the global distribution rights for DuPont's digital proofing business this year.
DuPont signed the distribution rights over to GPS after it decided to abandon development of its digital proofing business in order to focus its attentions on its consumables business.
This led to GPS's launch of the X-Proof Cromalin in February, which combined PerfectProof with the Canon IPF range of inkjet printers.
The new proofing system will be delivered as a complete package with a three-year warranty on hardware and software.
Customers can also choose from a wide range of Cromalin and Fogra-certified paper.
