The Epson 24in Stylus Pro 7900 and 44in Stylus Pro 9900, both launched at Drupa, are also being aimed at companies producing fine art and photographic applications.
Both machines use UltraChrome HDR ink, which has 11 colours, including orange and green, offering an increased colour gamut.
The 7900 and 9900 also incorporate the thin film piezo (TFP) printhead, which is claimed to produce higher resolutions faster, and with rounder dots up to 2880 dpi.
Offering a maximum speed of up to 40sqm an hour, the Stylus Pro models feature an optional in-line Epson SpectroProofer tool, which is claimed to output consistent and repeatable proof verification.
The SpectroProofer can function in both UV and UV-cut modes with changeable black or white backing, which means both models conform to the ISO 12647-7 proofing specification.
Martin Johns, senior product manager of large-format printers at Epson UK, said the Stylus Pro models were "ideal for entering new market sectors, not only high-end proofing applications, but also boosting the imaging capabilities in photo and fine art applications".
The standard model of the Stylus Pro 7900 is available for £3,195 while the 9900 costs £5,595.
