Fujifilm workflow solutions manager John Davies said that print buyers were creative professionals and likely to be early adopters of devices such as iPads.
"If we want to enhance the experience of these creatives who are responsible for commissioning and approving print work, we have to provide them with tools that they want to work with - one of the major reasons why we are developing this app," he said.
XMF Remote is currently accessed through a Java-based app via a Mac or PC browser and enables the user to remotely log in to a printer's XMF installation to view, annotate, and approve print work in progress.
The iPad version will be on show at this year's Publishing Expo, 1-2 March, Earl's Court, London, although a commercial launch date is yet to be announced.
