Egmont is using focal decoders on two of its tween magazines to help push Microsoft's launch of its Kinect range.
The promotion will run across Go Girl and Toxic and features a series of scrambled images that when viewed through the included decoding screen reveal clues to help correctly answer a competition question.
While the technology has previously been used in jigsaws and gaming cards, this is the first time it has had a magazine application.
"We are delighted to be working with Microsoft and 3D Imaging to launch the new Kinectimals game using this incredible technology for the first time in [magazines]," said Egmont commercial director Alison David.
"This groundbreaking, interactive and fun activity is a great way to capture the imaginations of our readers and bring the excitement of the launch to life in the pages of Go Girl and Toxic."
