Field Group has won the contract to produce John Dewars multipack cartons and has installed a high- speed packing line to do the job.
The contract, which involves producing the packaging for White Label Scotch Whisky miniatures, will last at least three years according to the firm, though details of its value were not disclosed.
Fields specialist packaging machinery operator, Field Packaging Systems, will sort the multipack cartons and inplant the miniatures and has installed the high-speed packing line at its Glasgow site.
The machine comprises a Certipak GCU sleeving machine with automatic in-feed to pack 12 5cl PET bottles at a rate of 3400 bottles per minute.
The in-feed then divides the bottles into two streams and a second pair of starwheels groups the bottles into a two-by-six format for sleeving.
The packaging will be produced and UV litho-printed at Field Packagings Edinburgh site (formerly First Carton Thyne) on a Roland 900 in five colours, using a varnish.
The labels will be printed in red and cream, and enhanced with a gold ink.
John Dewar is part of Bacardi and its other brands will also have their packaging produced on the same line.
Field is part of Chesapeakes European packaging segment, which has 41 European manufacturing locations, 21 of which are in the UK.
