Field Boxmore opts for Scope to automate repro

Field Boxmore Healthcare is automating its repro offerings with the implementation of Esko-Graphics Scope workflow.

The Leicester-based firm produces printed paper packaging for pharmaceutical and healthcare products.

Several additional modules have been implemented at the company since the beginning of the year, as part of the Scope workflow.

These include BackStage, PackEdge, Plato and DeskPack software. The idea behind BackStage digital workflow is to increase efficiency, provide automation for the most repetitive actions and hopefully eliminate errors.

"It means our operators don't have to spend time on mundane tasks which are carried out in the background by the BackStage server," said Field Boxmore Healthcare's pre-press systems support analyst Shaun Smith.

This is achieved by the use of JDF tickets. The ticket works through every process in the production chain, and then keeps an accurate record of the tasks undertaken, should the job need to be repeated in the future.

The firm believes that total automation is the future, particularly in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry.

Field Boxmore is part of the pharmaceutical and healthcare division of speciality packaging company Chesapeake Corporation.
