The Dundee-based business has taken on a 10-colour Speedmaster SM 74-10-P in order to handle longer-run jobs than it currently produces on a four-colour Anicolor press, which it took delivery of last year.
Heidelberg's SM 74-10-P has been installed with a Polar 115XT Autotrim guillotine, which complements an existing Polar 78XT and Polar 115X at the company.
"Other manufacturers were keen to get the order but one of the deciding factors was that after the cutbacks during the recession, Heidelberg is now head and shoulders better than anyone else on support and back-up," said Paul Anderson, managing director at Fairprint.
According to Anderson, the company's recent expansion and growth in sales has come from good service and "a focus on all aspects of the business".
The company, which currently employs 32 staff, also plans to take on five new employees in the coming months. In addition, it will add an Autobond TPH 75 laminator and new folding equipment.
Anderson said: "We are doing very well but we don’t imagine we’ve got a magic wand to wave. We realise we have to concentrate on doing the basics well to be successful.
"We haven’t reached the end of the road and we are continually looking at the detail and trying to improve our processes and performance."
