The SM 52-5+L machine, which offers a new high pile feeder and short delivery, follows on from the installation of a four-colour model in November 2007.
According to Mike Greene, managing director at ABC Print, the decision to return to Heidelberg was a result of confidence and knowledge of the Anicolor press.
He said: "We wouldn’t buy a press without Anicolor because it’s so easy to use and to work to ISO 12647-2 colour standards.
"The new shortened delivery is technology introduced on Speedmaster B1 presses that has migrated down to smaller formats. With a fifth colour we have increased flexibility and versatility."
While the 27-staff company's 10-colour press can handle process colours with seals, the printer can now handle process inks, special colours and a coat in one pass with the new Anicolor.
"There’s a lot of doom and gloom but I’m positive and feel you have to keep open minded and embrace various technologies and a broad range of marketing options," Greene added.
Earlier this year, ABC Print claimed it had introduced a "full complement of services" following the launch of its digital print facility at its Hereford site.
The 27-staff business has invested in a Konica Minolta bizhub Pro 6501e and an Autobond Mini 52 laminating line in a bid to broaden its client range and to provide existing customers with additional services.
