DuPont to add automated b2 proofs option

DuPont digital proofers will soon be able to automatically measure and verify every proof they make.

The firm will include a GretagMacbeth Eye-One spectrophotometer on the print head of its Cromalin b2 proofer from September.

This will allow the b2 to be used in the firms iCertification remote proofing workflow, as well as providing a quality stamp for every proof produced.

It will come as standard on new machines and will be available as a low-cost upgrade for existing users.

The value added will be very high, said DuPont UK sales manager commercial print Ralph Bates.

He claimed that the 30-minute drying time needed by most ink-jet proofs before measuring was not an issue with the b2, and that it could take a reading immediately after imaging.
