Duplo launches 'enhanced' feeder

Finishing equipment manufacturer Duplo has said the latest development in its feeder range will "offer enhanced benefits" for near-line finishing.

The DSF-5000 is the next-level option to the DSF-2000, which was introduced in 2001.

According to Duplo, the DSF-5000 can support the printed output of multiple printers and uses integrated features, such as optical mark recognition or an optional camera system, to read barcodes printed on each sheet.

It features a new belt suction feeder – the first feeder from Duplo since the DC-10/60 vertical collator was introduced almost 10 years ago.

Peter Dyson, digital finishing product manager at Duplo, said: "The feeder has been developed in response to digital press development, enabling even longer and higher quality production runs.

"Although the focus in recent years has been around supporting the growth in digital colour, in 2008, the only sector of printer sales to see growth was in the relatively new area of ultra high-speed mono cut-sheet printers in the 200-300ppm range."

The machine will have its launch at London Calling, a Duplo event due to be held on 23 September.
