Driftgate managing director Keith Maylin said the Applause plates would run through a Presstek Dimension 400 thermal platesetter, the groups third CTP unit, installed in February. He thought beta testing would start in October.
The Applause is a wet-offset printing plate that doesnt need a post-imaging water wash.
Driftgate is a family-owned general commercial printer that specialises in short-run, fast-turnaround colour work from business cards to bound books.
It employs 22 staff and has sales of 1.5m, and was also the first UK printer to install a Presstek platesetter, seven years ago.
Presstek regional sales manager Paul Williams said Driftgate had met several criteria, including its variety of presses and its proximity to UK Presstek distributor AB Dick.
