Creo CEO unveils Synapse Director release in 2003

Creo chief executive Amos Michelson used Printcafes Connect 2002 user conference to announce a new member of the firms Synapse range of software tools, which are the basis of its Networked Graphic Production Concept (NGP).

Synapse Director provides the job management and tracking tools already built into Prinergy for the firms Brisque and Spire workflows.

To date it has been discussed as a future component of the Synapse suite as the production manager component, but had not been announced as a product.

Synapse Director will be released in 2003 and will probably be initially available for Brisque. To gain the full functionality of Synapse Director, Brisque users will have to upgrade to a forthcoming version, Brisque 5, although it is expected that some functions will work with Brisque 4.

While providing job management and tracking such as load balancing across multiple digital front-ends, it will allow Creos non-Prinergy workflows to connect to MIS via Synapse Link.

Synapse Director is based on an Oracle database to log all the activities carried out by the pre-press workflow.
