Color-Logic extends processes and gets RIP and proof support
Metallic effects software firm Color-Logic has shown samples created using its product with all major print processes at Graph Expo this week.
Processes shown included flexo, wide-format inkjet and both liquid (HP Indigo ElectroInk) and dry toner digital print, in addition to the original offset litho.
The firm claimed that it was now possible to use the system with "virtually any process on substrates including paper, film and foil, which means that brand managers can confidently execute their designs across a broad array of media".
Other developments that should increase the uptake of the process includes the first RIP developer adopting its nomenclature in its products, making it easier for printers to process metallic work produced using Color-Logic in their pre-press workflows.
EFI’s Fiery XF RIP, which is predominantly used for wide-format production, supports the naming conventions for CMYK plus silver for use on white and clear substrates and the use of CMYK plus white on metallic stock.
"We are gratified that EFI adopted our naming convention," said Color-Logic sales and marketing director Mark Geeves. "Widespread use of Color-Logic nomenclature means that designers can be assured that their designs will be executed properly."
"We believe that special-effect applications such as metallic print present a huge growth potential," said EFI inkjet applications manager Stefan Spiegel.
Color-Logic has also certified Epson’s Stylus Pro WT7900 as an "Effect-Proof" partner. The WT7900’s white ink and MetallicProof film enables metallic effects to be proofed.
