The ‘Fizz and Fabulous Ladies Lunch’ will take place this Saturday (19 November) at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow to raise money for children’s charity NSPCC Scotland.
McAllister said she was delighted the lunch could be held again: “After attending the Ladies Lunch five years ago, I knew I wanted to get involved and have been on the committee ever since. It’s always a great day and has grown over the years, so much so that we had to get a bigger venue!
“We’ve really missed it and we’re thrilled to be back with what promises to be our biggest and best event yet.”
The afternoon will be hosted by comedic singer and Britain’s Got Talent contestant Edward Reid and kicks off with entertainment from Stirling’s Rock Choir, followed by a sumptuous three-course lunch. Afterwards there is dancing to music with Radio Clyde presenter Ali Wright.
“We have 400 ladies attending the event, 20 volunteers to help on the day and the Rock Choir from Stirling which comprises of another 70 ladies. All descending on Glasgow on the one day,” McAllister added.
The aim is to raise £40,000, enough to fund the 24/7 operation of Childline in Scotland for a week.
Caroline Renton, supporter fundraising manager for NSPCC Scotland, said: “It’s wonderful to see the return of the Ladies Lunch event as it’s been a firm fixture in people’s calendars each year and we’ve all missed it.
“We’d like to thank the wonderful Ladies Lunch Committee members who generously give up their time to organise this event each year and everyone who attends and donates so generously on the day. Their support means we can be there to help and support many more children who need us.”
The event will also include a recorded message from Childline founder Dame Esther Rantzen.
MLG is sponsoring the printed collateral for the event, Kooltech is the headline sponsor and Bullet Express is gold sponsor.
