CEPI to examine effect of transport on carbon footprint

The Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) has organised a workshop to discuss the contributions of transport to a company's carbon footprint.

Held on 25 March, the event will target representatives of pulp and paper companies that are involved in transport, logistics and the environment.

It aims to identify the specifics of transport for the European pulp and paper industry, and exchange experiences on how to tackle their environmental impact.

The event will be held at CEPI's Brussels office, and guest speakers include Stephan Sirrenberg, transportation network chairman CEPI, Sebastian Bäckström, WSP Analys & Strategi, and Helena Wessman, environmental research coordinator, KCL.

Katrin Recke, ECR Europe efficient consumer response, and Martin Kvych, director at LKW Walter International, will also speak at the event.

The workshop follows on from news that the European Commission has released a "Greening Transport Package", which looks at the internalisation of external costs.
