It includes the four-drum technology of the CLC 5000, as well as Finer-Brighter toner and colour automatic image refinement technology, which creates documents with a resolution of 800x400dpi or equivalent.
It also has several new features, including "scan-once, print-many" technology, stackless duplexing with high capacity stacker to handle 2,500 sheets of American A4-size, paper handling capacity up to 5,350 sheets from a total of four sources, and a dual control panel option for people with disabilities.
The CLC 3900 has finishing capabilities, including bookletmaking and paper trimming, and it can be used within a print-on-demand network when connected to a Canon ColorPass colour controller.
Canon has also launched Color Graphics Printer ImagePrograf W2200, a graphic arts proofing printer for up to A3-plus size, as well as two new six-colour, large-format printers.
