Kettering’s Eclipse Colour Print was awarded the top prize, Printing Company of the Year, in recognition of its outstanding performance in the notoriously tough B1 sector.
“We genuinely had no idea that we would win and were deeply touched by the warm congratulations we received,” said sales director David Birkbeck.
The SME category was won by Rotherham’s Rosehill Press, which has already reprinted its stationery to celebrate its achievement. Production director Christian Chadwick said it had been determined to win having reached the shortlist in 2000. “This is something we’ve been working towards for the past couple of years.”
And PrintWeek’s very own printer ET Heron triumphed in both the magazine categories. “We’re absolutely delighted, there’s not much else to it,” said production director Ray Lesnik.
Butler & Tanner picked up the book award for the sixth time in seven years, but joint managing director Peter Maunder said it didn’t take the win for granted. “Put it this way, we weren’t very happy the year we didn’t win,” he said.
Bezier chief executive Brian Dudley collected the new customer service prize. “We’re delighted. And to be the inaugural winner is a double filip,” he said.
Dudley also praised the launch of Pride in Print - a campaign designed to help enhance print's standing. "It is difficult out there but there are some hellishly good things to shout about and take pride in," he said.
