CarWraps.net features a searchable database so that brand managers can locate a pre-screened and certified installer near them. The site also features a selection of photos of custom graphics on cars, lorries, vans and trailers.
The new program uses Avery Dennison’s MPI 1005 Supercast pressure-sensitive vinyl that is first digitally printed with logos and designs and then laminated to protect against sun damage and road wear.
Avery Dennison is working with wrap installation locations initially in 17 major markets at launch, but does plan to expand to virtually every state in the nation, according to Todd Hain, marketing/communications manager for Avery Dennison's Graphics and Reflective Solutions division.
"Car wrapping itself is growing around the world pretty quickly, though this website and service is being launched only in North America," Hain told PrintWeek.
In order to drive adoption, CarWraps.net also features statistics from the Outdoor Advertising Association of America noting that a single wrapped car can generate up to 70,000 impressions in a day, while wrapping an entire fleet of company vehicles can boost brand recognition 15 time more than any other form of advertising - and at a very low cost-per-impression.
Vinyl car wraps can also be quickly changed as logos, messages and campaigns evolve. Dennison's Graphics and Reflective Solutions provides vinyl graphics options for a variety of signage, and Hain admitted that initially car wraps may only be a small part of that business.
However, he added: "Car wraps is one of those areas we think can have a lot of growth because these work for both local and national brands. There are also large multinational companies that can brand thousands of their fleet vehicles around the world."
