The statement of affairs for Abbey Marketing Communications has revealed that it had an estimated deficiency of over £500,000 when it went into liquidation alongside connected company Spirit DM in January.

Printweek reported last month that Nedim Ailyan and Ben Stanyon, both of FRP Advisory Trading in Orpington, were appointed at Abbey Marketing Communications Limited and Spirit D M Limited on 30 January.

The two firms operated from an industrial park in Great Dunmow, Essex and shared two common directors in Michele and Andrew Cantwell, according to Companies House records.

Abbey Marketing Communications Limited’s notice of statement of affairs, filed at Companies House this week, revealed estimated total assets available for preferential creditors of just under £270,000. Plant and machinery with a book value of just over £78,000 was estimated to realise just over £14,000.

The company’s estimated total deficiency as regards members was slightly over £524,000.

Among the unsecured non-preferential claims were unsecured creditors – listed as being owed just over £250,000, while 21 employee claims totalled just shy of £300,000. There was also a connected company loan for Spirit D M Limited listed, for just over £24,000.

Spirit D M Limited’s notice of statement of affairs, filed last month at Companies House, revealed a much smaller company with an estimated total deficiency as regards members of slightly under £22,000.

According to the company’s website – which is now down, Abbey Marketing Communications was a marketing services company with specific emphasis on the production and processing of plastic card mailed communications.

Services included data processing, laser personalisation and inkjet addressing, specialist finishing, enclosing, and fulfilment.

As of 2018, Abbey Marketing Communications’ turnover was around £2m.

Its turnover at the time it went into liquidation was unclear and FRP Advisory had not responded to a request for comment at the time of writing.
