The company also has a Heidelberg Harris Web 8 five-colour press, which it will continue to run.
Chairman John Howard, who founded Nestoncolour in 1991, said the firm had always been busy with a little spare capacity and we expect the Komori to increase this significantly.
Howard added that he had been particularly impressed with the makeready speed of the Komori machine. [It is] as little as 15 minutes weve been used to taking well over an hour, he said.
The machine will be equipped with a Jetweb pre-folder and a Jetweb pattern perforator/die-cutter and will be installed with the space to add a sixth unit during 2004.
It runs at a top speed of 50,000iph and Howard anticipates that it will be able to produce 2m 8pp A4 booklets a day at the company, which specialises in the financial, retail and mail order markets.
One of the other benefits of the Komori is that it provides a half-cut folder that delivers two-up 8pp A4 booklets in one stream, significantly reducing labour, Howard explained. We didnt find another press manufacturer that offered such a facility as standard.
Nestoncolour employs 83 staff and has a turnover in the region of 9.6m.
The company specialises in the production of statements, inserts, door-drops and booklets and general brochures for the mail order, retail and financial markets.
