York Mailing buys 16pp Komori web

York Mailing will start to take delivery of a new 16pp Komori web on Monday (15 July) as part of its ongoing investment programme.

The firm will immediately install five units and will take a sixth later in the year. The Komori joins two other 16pp webs, a Harris and a MAN Roland Rotoman, at the firm’s York site. The press should be operational by the end of September.

"The Komori fulfils our needs and they offered the best package," said chief executive Chris Ingram.

York Mailing also runs two Heidelberg miniwebs at Centre Web, whose assets it bought nearly a year ago (PrintWeek, 24 August 2001).

The firm is installing a Creo Lotem platesetter at Centre Web to join the Lotem it installed a year ago.

York Mailing employs 180 staff across the two sites and has annual sales of £17m. It provides print and fulfilment services and focuses on retail and financial clients.

In 2000 York Mailing owner Mike Newbould led a buyout of York Direct, giving him access to printing presses, then merged the firms on the York Direct site.
