The Harrogate-based exhibition, from 14-16 May, will mark the first UK showing for the company’s own PowerSquare P2T Trimmer as well the Mohr 66 NET guillotine and the Tauler SmartMatic automatic laminator.

The PowerSquare P2T Trimmer, available for £36,000, complements the company’s PowerSquare 200 Bookmaker and is suitable for both litho and digital trimming.

The P2T trims the top and bottom edges of a booklet enabling full-bleed print jobs to be produced in a single pass from the printer, thus increasing efficiency.

Watkiss Automation communications director Jo Watkiss said: "We have very high hopes for the trimmer because it can be retrofitted to existing PowerSquares, which may be used with a wide range of digital printers. It’s great for new printers but also upgrades."

Watkiss has been UK distributor for the Tauler range of manual and automatic laminators since November and this is the first time it has shown the new Tauler SmartMatic automatic laminator.

Tauler’s Smart and SmartMatic models are both 52cm sheet-to-sheet thermal laminating machines that are designed to be used by a single operator and work at up to 15m per minute and 20m per minute respectively.

They also feature a low maintenance oil filled heating cylinder and de-curling and automatic sheet separation features. The SmartMatic retails at £30,000.

Watkiss said the £21,000 Mohr 66 NET guillotine was attractive because it gave customers the quality of "the Rolls Royce of guillotine manufacturers" but at a smaller size suitable for digital printers. The company has already sold several of the larger Mohr guillotines.

All the machines in the range feature a wide range of programming options, easy knife changing, a machine frame with optimized stability and Mohr’s Direct Positioning System for cutting accuracy. The guillotines come in 56cm, 66cm and 80cm sizes.

Watkiss Automation previously displayed the trimmer at Drupa and the guillotine was shown on the Mohr stand. Both have been available commercially since then and the Tauler range since November but while there are several orders in process the company has yet to install any of these new products.

The company will also exhibit collating, booklet making and perfect binding machines from its own range. "We always hope that we will generate lots of interest at the exhibition but it’s also about developing long-term business. We think they are a very attractive proposition to people," added Watkiss.

The Bedfordshire family company has 70 employees and a turnover of around £6.5m. It has been manufacturing and distributing finishing equipment since 1974 and now exports 80% of its products.
