Sun Chemical claims 'taste advertising' ready for mainstream adoption

Consumables manufacturer Sun Chemical has said that its "taste advertising" technology is about to go mainstream, led by a national UK newspaper.

The company announced a partnership with US company First Flavor at last year's Ifra Expo in Vienna.

Speaking in Hamburg today, product director for news inks Paul Casey said that the product had already been a success, after it had been used for a campaign urging children against smoking in Florida.

The company had a number of potential schemes in the offing, but Casey said that one of the most exciting would be happening in the UK.

He said: "It is definitely moving mainstream. A large UK newspaper is about to do a national print run with a scratch and sniff patch. We have already done the pilot and we are now working with their technical people to get that out."
