Sun Chemical set for PrintWeekLive! debut

Sun Chemical will make its debut at PrintWeekLive! this year with a focus on its specialist and LED products.

After debuting its SolarFlex LED flexo inks, intended for migration-compliant food packaging, at LabelExpo, Brussels, last year, the international manufacturer will bring the product, as well as others in its portfolio, to the Wasps Arena, Coventry, on 7/8 March.

At the show, the Sun Chemical team will be presenting hard copies of its best practice guides, which visitors will be invited to discuss, alongside its range of inks.

“It’s been a tough 2017 for ourselves and most ink suppliers, with the uncertainty surrounding the Brexit situation,” said UK & Ireland sales manager James Mullooly. “But going into 2018, we have seen a real upsurge in enquiries and demand for new technology.

“There is plenty of scope for opportunity, and we hope to get this across when we meet people at PrintWeekLive!. The market is alive and kicking now so we have a chance to make our case.

“Members of our team attended the show last year and the feedback was very positive on what the show can offer us, in terms of contact with existing and potential customers. We have no plans so far to exhibit at other UK shows this year so PrintWeekLive! is our priority.”

This year also marks 200 years since the founding of Sun Chemical, which first started to take form as Lorilleux & Cie in France, 1818 – the first speciality ink company of its kind.

Key to the UK branch of the international group’s strategy in 2018 is taking the initiative to “get out there more and promote ourselves”, according to Mullooly. This approach is being pushed by Lasa Mohamad, who recently joined the team as its new marketing event coordinator for the EMEA.

In the UK, Sun Chemical has 800 staff working at various sites to serve customers both in the UK and the rest of the world. At PrintWeekLive!, its team will be found at stand E60.
