The machine, which is available to order with immediate effect, is a high-speed multi-format device which can be used to process complex transactional mail applications.
The manufacturer said the inserter can simplify capacity planning, increase productivity, lower ownership cost and improve ROI.
Speaking at Hunkeler, Pitney Bowes Global Strategic Product Management vice-president Grant Miller said: “This machine is our multi-function platform built on automation and set-up. It can be used for short and long runs, with speeds up to 21,000cph but is also suitable for runs of 300-1,500.
“We’ve also revamped the whole user interface of the machine and it’s now much easier to operate than past models. It’s had a fantastic reaction here at the show.”
According to Miller, the device, which is built upon the Pitney Bowes Mailstream Productivity Series (MPS) inserting platform, will help high volume transactional print and mail service providers to move quickly and easily from job to job.
The machine has quick makeready times and can move from letters to flats in around 90 seconds. It also provides real-time, integrated end-to-end tracking and control.
“By maximising productive uptime and minimising labour and material costs, Epic will help our clients pursue more profitable service level agreements and expand their capabilities to meet future market demands,” said Miller.
“Our clients are being tasked with processing different mail formats in varying volumes, so they are constantly looking for ways to increase productivity without compromising integrity and accuracy.
“Epic meets this challenge by allowing users to incorporate multiple mail formats onto one system and enabling faster changeovers to maximise system uptime and accelerate ROI.”
Hunkeler also marked the European debut for Pitney Bowes’ Mailstream Engage device, which launched in the US in 2012 and is now fully available in Europe.
Mailstream Engage, which is aimed at the direct marketing industry, combines digital print and variable data software to produce high-impact, personalised, full-colour packets from standard A4-size paper in a single pass.
