Of the 10 new machines on its stand, the Digital System 445 Bookletmaker, which cuts, creases and creates booklets in one pass, will probably be the star. Meanwhile, the new entry-level DB-280 perfect binder will be shown, along with the DKT200 trimmer. The Alpha Saddle Stitcher will also take centre stage. The machine, which runs at up to 12,000 booklets per hour and works with Duplo’s range of collator towers and sheet feeders.

Polar, which will be exhibiting on Heidelberg’s stand, is releasing its enhanced PACE systems for high-productivity cutting at Ipex. The upgrade is targeting printers using the latest XL press technology and is capable of cutting six pallets in one hour with a single operator. Polar will also announce its full integration to the Prinect workflow. However, Heidelberg’s premier post-press launch will be its new flagship perfect binder, the Eurobind Pro. The 6,000cph machine, which is a development of the Eurobind 4000, offers makeready speeds 50% faster than its rivals. The Stahlfolder KH 66 is being launched at Ipex, a combi-folder with an automatic cross-fold unit. Also on display will be the Stahlfolder KH 82, which represents Heidelberg’s most automated combination folder to date.

Ipex is the setting for the world launch of the Horizon BQ-160 single-clamp perfect binder with PUR options. The machine has a production speed of 180 cycles per hour for books up to 40mm thick. Also taking centre stage will be the Horizon CABS6000, a 17-clamp binder with the ability to handle 6,000 books per hour. It can bind various book sizes inline from A6 to B4. The new Horizon AF-764F will also be demonstrated on stand. The B1 folder runs at 240m/min and includes a power stop system and JDF.
