Hunkeler showed off a new generation of equipment for the digital press market at its Innovation Days event. Exhibits included the CS6 cross cutter for single and double cuts and the DC6 Drum Collator for the on-demand newspaper market. The products are distributed by Hunkeler’s UK agent Friedheim International

Duplo launched its first high-production fully automatic perfect binder, the DuBinder DPB-500. It was developed to handle output from both offset and digital devices at cycling speeds of up to 525 books per hour. It could produce products 120-320mm2.

Morgana unveiled what it claimed was the world’s first fully automated, micro-format UV coater and printing system. The Digicoater was officially launched at Drupa and was pitched primarily at on-demand digital printers

Pitney Bowes launched what it said was a breakthrough in high integrity, personalised, variable bookletmaking. The machine’s integrated saddlestitcher combined the speed of Pitney Bowes’ continuous roll-feed and cut-sheet inputs, the control of Pitney Bowes’ direct connect software and the productivity of the saddlestitching system.

Ferag linked up with Goss to unveil the Goss Pacesetter + Ferag stitcher. A SNT drum was hooked onto the Pacesetter and was formally launched at Drupa. It can stitch 25,000 books per hour with a maximum spine thickness of 10mm

Autobond launched the Mini 52 TP UV, a machine that combined high-speed film lamination and UV coating in one machine. According to managing director John Gilmore, it allowed Autobond users to effectively hedge their bets
October 2009
Friedheim International took on the UK agencies for Wohlenberg guillotines and perfect binders from Manroland GB. Five months later Friedheim handed the UK agency for the Schneider Senator 78 and 92 guillotines to Duplo.
January 2010
The business and assets of finishing kit distributor Graphic Arts Equipment, formerly part of Litho Supplies, were sold out of administration to acquisition vehicle Horizon Print Finishing Equipment, headed by Bryan Godwin and Tony Hards.
