The Designjet L65500 can print at speeds of up to 70sqm/hr for outdoor applications and 35sqm/hr for indoor, at resolutions of up to 1,200dpi.
The machine uses new latex, water-based inks, which are odourless and offer high levels of scratch and smudge resistance. As the first press to use these inks, it was also awarded EDP's Inkjet Ink 2009 gong in recognition of the environmental benefits.
EDP chairman Agustín Torres said: "Given the profile it enjoys in the printing industry, we're delighted to see HP using its industry leadership to encourage a more sustainable approach from the graphic arts market."
Earlier this year, vehicle wrapping company Totally Dynamic bought the UK's first Designjet L65500 in a bid to help reduce the environmental impact of its vehicle wrap printing.
François Martin, marketing director for HP's graphic solutions business within the Imaging and Printing Group for EMEA, said: "As environmental considerations continue to rise up the agenda for PSPs and brand owners, HP is committed to providing the best solutions both for our customers and for the planet."
