The Scarborough-based manufacturer has trained four full-time staff to head-up the division, which was only formally identified as a separate business "cell" to the vinyl-covered boards within the last two months.
Duraweld operations supervisor Paul Willets said that the company’s flexible approach had enabled it to quickly adapt to meet the increase in demand for the products.
Marketing manager Jane Harper suspected that the drop off from companies offering similar paper-based products had driven existing and new customers to approach Duraweld to fulfil their needs.
She said: "We’ve always been known for our plastic ringbinders but people are starting to trust us with all their ringbinders now."
The company is also expanding into box-making following a one-off request to produce stand-alone boxes alongside the slipcases it produces to protect its paper over board products.
