The Cheshire-based ink manufacturer plans to launch Tex-AD and Tex-PG for wide-format printers by the end of this year following extensive research in its R&D laboratory.
Following the success of Digitl Ink’s Versatile Textile and Vinyl solvent-based ink range, the company wanted to produce similar water-based solutions to boost its environmental status and eliminate the need for room ventilation as required when using solvent inks.
The inks are being developed for use with wide-format Agfa, Epson, Mimaki, Mutoh and Roland models for direct to textile printing. The Tex-AD is more suited to T-shirt printing while the Tex-PG is designed for vehicle wrapping, posters and displays.
Wide-format graphics is Digitl Ink’s most heavily invested research area, with three in-house chemists working solely on ink development.
Digitl Ink sales manager Dean Terry said: "Wide-format is one of our most profitable markets, which has low volumes and high margins. It involves working smarter rather than harder."
