Hung Hing, which specialises in printing books and packaging and is based in Hong Kong and mainland China, presented the first of five phases of its new site to British print buyers last week.
Its new Heshan factory in southern China will stretch to 480,000sqm and will include the firm’s largest handfinishing operation and a paper warehouse, due to be completed next year, with capacity of 30,000 tonnes.
Some 1,000 staff will be recruited to the plant by the end of this month, with a further 1,000 by June. They will be accommodated in dormitories and will have a recreation area, restaurant and a range of sports and leisure facilities.
Speaking at the launch event, Hung Hing managing director Matthew Yum said: “Heshan will be one of the most modern plants in southern China. It will enable us to double our book printing capacity, improve our service to the growing international market, and meet the needs of an expanding domestic market.”
