Yesterday an election leaflet from the BNP arrived at Francis Towers, allowing me to answer the question posed a couple of weeks back re "who will print for the BNP?".
The answer, it seems, is... the BNP itself as the party is credited as the printer. In true anorak style I'm now wondering what sort of kit they have at the BNP's Nuneaton HQ, as it seems to be one installation story that hasn't made it to the PrintWeek newsdesk. You can voice your own opinion on this matter via the special poll my colleague Matt Whipp has kindly set up in the forum.
The BNP piece in question is a garish A5 full-colour leaflet, as opposed to the swanky personalised mailings (credited as being printed by TPF...) sent out by the Conservatives. But still, were the election to be won on promotional print quality the BNP would be head and shoulders above my local Labour group.
The LibDems, meanwhile, came up with a rather eye-catching 4pp faux local newspaper, printed by Mortons of Horncastle, which even includes a couple of adverts for neighbourhood businesses.
As well as the mountains of mailings, posters, and manifestos the election campaign is obviously keeping a few production people on their toes in terms of print-on-demand to keep pace with unfolding events, as with this latest Conservative poster depicting Gordon Brown as a Vicky Pollard-esque character following last night's TV debate.
