The Pallet Mat is placed on the floor at the rear entrance of the van and using a forklift truck the pallet is placed squarely on the mat. A robust steel plate is then used to provide a solid surface for the forks of a forklift truck, or for a further pallet, which can position the goods further into the van. During unloading, the pallet is removed by forklift using the kit’s specially designed straps. These can be attached to the steel plate in a variety of positions to increase flexibility.
Its heavy-duty, low-friction mat and moving straps meet health and safety standards and help eliminate dangerous and inefficient practices such as the pushing pallets with a forklift and removing pallets using unsuitable straps or ropes. The kit’s design also minimises damage to products and pallets. In addition, it can make better use of smaller vans, freeing up larger vehicles. Both the mat and the straps have been tested with loads in excess of two tonnes, the straps to a breaking strain of five tonnes and the bar to a dead pull of 1.6 tonnes. This guarantees a safe handling of a one tonne pallet.
Shifta Pallet Mat is priced at around £150 and is supplied by Vehicle Resources.
