MGE has revamped its range of Pressmate dampening circulators with the introduction of the FX-1 Filtration Unit; a fount filter system designed to prolong the life of solutions.
FX-1 provides both waste and time savings, making it attractive to firms hoping to cut pressroom alcohol consumption and improve their environmental standing.
The machine works by filtering out contaminants picked up from sources such as ink, paper and spray power. It can be used with all sheetfed presses and carries out tasks while the machine is still running a 10-litre-per-minute flow rate, without affecting the fount.
The firm claims that the system can increase the life of a fount solution by up to six times, minimise chemical usage and greatly reduce waste disposal, helping the machine to pay for itself within a few months.
A self-priming pump with dry run capability continually circulates the fount solution through a three-stage filtration process, and a gauge shows the condition of the filters and indicates when they need to be changed.
In addition, the system is designed to automatically cut out if the filters become blocked. A filter blockage cut-out lamp then switches on to highlight the problem to the press minder.
The system runs independently, and so continues to clean when the press is offline.
All MGE dampening circulators are fitted with a dual-layer composite filter bag as standard to offer protection against foaming and to filter out particle impurities from the fount solution.
The firm will be showing the Pressmate FX-1 at Drupa 2008.
