Zebra Technologies' two machines print accurate prescriptions, lab and specimen labels, patient ID wristbands and equipment labels down to the smallest sizes.
The ZD420-HC and ZD620-HC launched at this week's HIMSS show in Las Vegas, boast ease of use, high print speeds and premium print quality, according to the company
The printers offered more secure patient data and could help prevent medical errors in areas such as patient and medicine identification, said solutions and portfolio marketing director David Barnes.
“The technology was launched in Las Vegas, is available in the UK now and is compliant with the relevant UK regulations and legislation,” he said without disclosing costs of the printers.
“The Zebra ZD620-HC rises above conventional desktop printers with premium print quality and state-of-the-art features, available in both direct thermal and thermal transfer models.”
ZD620-HC offered the most standard features of any Zebra desktop printer, with optional colour LCD and 10-button interface to simplify printer setup, he explained.
“Designed specifically for healthcare the ZD620-HC has a sealed button interface, ready for constant disinfecting, and with its optional 300 dpi printing, the tiniest labels are crisp and legible.”
He said the kit was powered by Zebra’s Link-OS 5.0 platform, which secured connections and increased protection of patient data and infrastructures.
The ZD420-HC and ZD620-HC also had a locking media cabinet to block unauthorized access to sensitive material such as blank prescription forms.
User interface with LED status icons saved user time and let them see easily what was needed to keep printers up and running such as replenishing media.
Speciality printing group vice president Keith LeFebvre said: “Reliability, security and accuracy are paramount in the healthcare environment.
“Our printers provide medical organisations durable, high-quality printers that offer more secure patient data, efficiencies across the care environment and help preventing medical errors.”
