Fastbond Adhesive, which is available with immediate effect, is formulated for use on film-to-board and film-to-film bonding and offers high bond strength when used with suitable boards, and treated or coated films.
The product is free of toxic chemicals, HDDA and benzophenone, which makes it suitable for food packaging. It also forms a barrier for chemicals, moisture and gases and is suitable for overcoming adhesion issues with films and boards.
According to Ultrachem, the product is also fast curing and has a low odour with strong wet out and bonding properties. It is formulated for low migration and has low toxicity when fully cured, meaning that it is also suitable for other general packaging uses.
Ultrachem director Janet Brinton said: "Fastbond Adhesive adds to our product portfolio and complements our existing product range of UV and water-based coatings for the narrow-web food packaging/label sector.
"There is a great demand for this type of product in board-to-film food packaging (sandwich skillets), labels for food packaging and film-to-film food packaging."
Ultrachem, which supplies offset, heatset, coldset and flexo print businesses both in the UK and internationally, recently relocated to a new 2,044sqm site in Enfield to consolidate its operations.
The business has also recently launched Safe to Touch Print emulsion (water-based) coatings and started stocking Actega Colorchemie water-based inks and Van Son’s Vs3 range of sheetfed hard-dry inks.
Established in 1981, the firm has 70 staff and a turnover of around £14m. It specialises in the supply of water-based coatings, UV lacquers, UV inks, founts, washes and pre-press chemistry as well as solvent blending and blanket conversion.
