The CMC 9000s, from CMC Machinery, will join four CMC 400 machines bought from the same company in 2009.
Synertec is relocating its Wellington, Somerset head office to Bristol while also opening a new facility in Warrington to adjust to the growth of the business. The two new sites will join Synertec’s existing site in Welford, Berkshire.
Synertec managing director Mark Baldock said that turnover had increased by 18% over the past four years due to an expanding customer base and maximised volume orders from existing clients.
Baldock said: "The steady growth on a month-on-month basis has led to a need to expand capacity before it constricts our ability to deliver to customer expectations.
"The CMC 9000s give us increased productivity and more throughput," he added.
The CMC 9000 inserting line handles up to 30,000 envelopes per hour – 10,000 more than the CMC 400 – and can automatically reject errors to ensure maximum uptime during production.
He said: "There is a limited labour pool in the Wellington area to support the ongoing growth of the business, which Bristol doesn’t suffer from. Bristol is also more centralised to the distribution centre."
Baldock said that the Bristol site was running live production but was not yet fully operational and he expected the Warrington site to open in mid-November.
Half the workforce at the Wellington site was taken to the new Bristol site, but Baldock plans to start a recruitment drive imminently to recruit new staff to restore a full team.
Eight staff from the Wellington site took voluntary redundancy as part of the relocation to Bristol.
